The We CAN project for October will be a service project called Garretson Rake-A-Thon. On Sat., Oct. 26, 9 a.m. we will be raking yards for those families that are unable to rake their own lawns. We are asking anyone available that Saturday morning to sign up and help rake a yard. A signup sheet is in the narthex for volunteers, and we encourage families to take on this task as well as individuals. We will ask a group of 4 to 6 people to rake a yard. Some groups may want to sign up for two yards that morning. If you know of families in need, or if you are in need, please sign them up. Since this is a Garretson project, we will being asking other residents of Garretson to join us, so get your neighbors involved as well! Please contact Amy Bohl or Dan Paulson if you have any questions. (Rain date will be November 2.)

After School Movie for 4th – 6th graders, Wed., Oct. 23rd: Upper Elementary youth are invited to come to Zion basement after the early dismissal on Oct 23rd for an after school movie.  We will be showing “The Big Green” (a soccer movie akin to the Bad News Bears).  Permission forms are required so that I know that parents are aware of where their child is and also as a help for count in preparation for snacks and seating. Forms were sent in the mail, and there is an extra form included for friends. Please return these to church no later than Mon. Oct. 21st.  Thank you! More forms available on bulletin board by Jen’s office.

God’s Creation Calendars – These cost only $7 and have a beautiful depiction of a nature scene alone with a scripture passage on each monthly page design. Made of sturdy weighted cardboard/paper, ideal for writing on, and the daily squares and numbers for each day of the month are large and easy to read! These will make great gifts heading into the holiday season! Please see Jen if you would like to buy some. They are available for pick-up now. This is a fundraiser for youth faith trips.

Mission Credit Opportunities for 7th – 9th graders: Rake the Town event on Oct 26th does qualify for mission credits!  Youth will receive extra credits when one or more parents help as we like this to be a family affair. If a youth is coming without a parent, please let Jen know so we can make sure there are enough drivers. I am also in need of some volunteers to help work the Zion fall festival as dish washers, tray carriers, tray and garbage pick up, clean-up and running the elevator. I can use about 4 to 6 workers.  One credit for each hour worked. Workers needed from 4:30 pm – 6:30 p.m.

Dream Team needs: Thank you to the four families who have generously donated to this group. We are excited to see where this next year of ministry will go!

Sunday, November 3,Is All Saints Sunday. As a commemoration of that special Sunday, we would like to make a display of FRAMED photos of loved ones who are no longer with us. If you would like to have your loved ones included, please drop off a FRAMED photo (any size) at the church. Please label the photo with the name of the person and if they are not former Zion members, please include their relationship to you. These photos will be displayed during the church service on that Sunday. We thought it would be a wonderful way to remember those who have gone before us. Thank you! If you have any questions, please contact Jacki Liester, Marcia Gnadt, or Kathy Winter.
