GHS Seniors of 2020! Please join Jen at Palisades park August 25th at 7 p.m. for a special meeting about a group just for you this last year of High School!  We will have s’mores over the fire, do some summer sharing, talk about what is in store for you in this last big year of high school, and what would be the best times for us to get together this coming year!

SERVING AT THE BANQUET! Wednesday August 28th! This is a requirement for Zion 8th and 9th graders but we will need adults to serve as well. High Schoolers – please join us also if you can!! We need a total of 40 people to serve.  Always a rewarding experience! Adults, if you are going along and are willing to drive some youth, please let Jen know. Parents who serve with their young people earn an extra mission credit for their youth, as Faith and Service are CAUGHT more than TAUGHT!

The We CAN project for August will be for supplies for our students and teachers at Garretson School District. Once again we will be collecting disinfecting wipes, boxes of tissues, and cash to be used to buy gift cards to be used by teachers to buy supplies that they need in the classroom for the upcoming school year. Our goal this year is $500 cash, 25 boxes of tissues, and 25 containers of wipes. Any other school supplies you wish to contribute will be given to them as well! Please contact Dan Paulson at 594-3165 with any questions.

BINGO PRIZES WANTED: We are collecting prizes for our BINGO games for Rally Sunday. This is an all age event so new or gently used prizes (or baked/canned goods) for all ages will be accepted. You DO NOT have to bring a prize to play. We have plenty of extras. If you have a prize to donate, please drop it off at the office prior to Rally Sunday or the day of the event.

OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME to a Christian exchange student from Spain for the coming 2019-2020 school year. Volunteer host families (with or without children) as well as single parents are needed to provide food, a bed and a loving home for the coming school year, one or two semesters, starting in August.  EMF students have medical insurance, spending money for their personal expenses and expect to share their host family’s daily life including household responsibilities.  They speak English, are well-screened and eager to experience life in America.  Their stay here is sponsored and supervised by EMF (Educational Merit Foundation), a non-profit, educational exchange organization.  For more information on EMF students, please call Marie-Claude Dijoud now at 1-800-467-8363 or visit our web site at www.emfusa.org
